What you can expect _ Job Purpose
Jobholder will be part of the Operation Team, based in our Italian headquarter and research station located in Sant'Agata Bolognese. National travel required and some international travels are required to ensure a proper follow up related to execution of the production order and Crop management.
As an Area Production Specialist North, you are responsible, manage, monitor and provide advice relating to the specific agricultural aspects of the seed production in order to meet the production plan providing a consistent supply of high quality commercial and/or stock seed to ensure the long term profitability success of the organization.
What you can expect _ Major Tasks & Responsibilities
To ensure consistent supply of seeds:
- Together with the Area Production Manager and based on the Area Tactical Plan, maintain, develop or adapt the seed production infrastructure and resources in order to ensure the capacity, efficiency and reliability of our seed productions.
- Advising growers on proper crop management practices.
- Monitor and review quality in all aspects of the growing crop including rogueing, supervision of field isolation and crop rotation.
- Planning and overseeing work of Field Technician(s).
- Communication and reporting on progress of ongoing productions
- Organize and evaluate producibility trials, production research trials and all hybrid / stock seed productions.
- Ensure proper field inspections, required certification and timely shipping of seeds.
- Establish and maintain a reliable grower base & relationship by seasonal evaluation of performance.
- Establish new grower relations
- Regarding Reporting topic:
- Through regular communication and distribution of monthly reporting via SmartFarm, keep the stakeholders informed of on-going crop production activities and problems in respect to yield, purity or germination.
- Timely and accurate delivery of year-end rogueing and nicking trial reports.
- Take part in the seasonal evaluation meetings to analyze past seasons in order to identify improvement areas for future productions.
What we expect _ Education, work experience & skills
- Bachelor's in agriculture related field with 3 years of experience in farming and/or agronomic practices
- Expert Knowledge of seed production and operational techniques used within the company.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Knowledge of local Italian language.
- English skills verbal and written
- Assertive decision making;
- Should possess the following competencies: Analyzing, Organizing, Accountability, Respectful, Performance.
- Team worker
- Proficiency with MS Office products.
- Digital mindset. Understanding importance of good tools and the power of data.
- Located in Bologna or Modena area.
- Availability to work in extreme open field conditions.
- Willing and available to travel within Italy and Europe.
